Sexing Note: Most of our breeds we can average 90% accuracy on gender sexing. However, with the French Marans breed it is more difficult for the vent sexor to make this determination, so for this breed our guarantee is 75% accuracy.

We love our French Marans! We ordered 5 and got three Black Coppers and 2 Wheatens. They are the biggest of our flock, docile, and don’t try to jump the fence. The eggs are dark and speckled, large size. The coloring is beautiful and I love the feathers on their feet!

I ordered 5 surplus hens. I received 6 (2 Wheaten, 1 Cuckoo, and 3 Black Copper Marans). One of the Marans was much smaller and passed within the first few days. All the rest of the chicks were healthy and grew to be beautiful birds that lay dark eggs.

I ordered 5 of the this surplus, 5 Silkie Bantam special, 5 Blue Egger Female Surplus. Received 17 chicks, one was listless upon arrival, the rest were fairly active. I followed the info in the pamphlet. Unfortunately, another one became listless. I was able to get them to drink. They didn’t make it, the trip must have been too much for them. I sill have 15 very active chicks. I cant wait to see what breeds I have been given. Thank you Cackle Hatchery.

I bought 10 of these chicks (along with a few other breeds. 32 birds in total) and was happy to receive all healthy, peeping babies. I was a bit concerned about shipping because I have never bought chicks online before but I am really pleased that all of the birds I order (and a few extras) came within 2 days and all survived. I live in NJ, so I was afraid it was going to be a long, cold trip. I will definitely be buying some more birds in the future! Now the fun begins with watching them grow and see what breeds I got! 🙂

All chicks were healthy, got 4 copper and 2 Wheaton. I o two copper roosters also have to be the best chicks i have out of 50 chickens. And love the speckled chocolate eggs.

Beautiful Hens
Ordered five dark layers(along with 10 of other breeds) Received 2 Cuckoo Marans, 2 Barnevelder, 2 Copper Black Marans. Arrived in Alaska in good condition. All attractive and well mannered birds, they have started laying lovely dark eggs this month. I lost two chicks about a week after receiving them, possibly Marek’s related, I would recommend vaccination(which I should have ask for but didn’t)

Ordered 5 of these for the dark chocolate brown eggs and was crossing my fingers for marans of some type and received 6 French Cuckoo Maran chicks. If you want egg color and don’t have a specific breed of chicken in mind, this option will save you some money. Cackle never disappoints no matter what kind of poultry we want for our farm, we are loyal customers. Will reorder these again.

Fantastic Company!
I ordered these little ladies and received a healthy, peeping box of chicks! All lived! These are a lovely selection of French Marans (cuckoo, black copper, and Barnevelders) with the cutest personalities (calm and curious). We got three roos from 23 chicks to start which is about the odds and there are plenty of hens for them so no issues with aggression! Thanks for the wonderful birds!

Gardening with Chickens
We won $150.00 voucher last year (from a gardening contest!)–ordered our chicks and watched them garden for us. This year, we added dark brown egg female surplus, Welsummer, and 15 heavy female (hatchery choice). Amazing results: healthy garden! No pests, great fertilizer and wonderful produce.
