Description
The White Pekin breed of duck is the type of duck used in making the AFLAC commercials. The Pekin duck originated in China and was introduced into the Americas in the 1870s. Admitted to the American Standard of Perfection in 1874. The White Pekin duck has a fast growth rate making it an excellent choice for meat. They are entertaining and very active with a good hatching ability. White Pekin baby ducklings are one of the cutest and most popular ducks for pets and were featured in the television series “Friends” and several of the Disney kid shows.

I was really skeptical after doing research on which hatchery to buy my ducklings from, I saw a lot of mixed reviews and most were negative but still took a shot. I ordered 3 ducklings and I got three healthy ducklings. I wasn’t sure if they would make it at first but they’re doing great. I ordered 3 Pekins and I believe one isn’t a true Pekin and may be a silver appleyard or closely related because it has a black spot on his head, they came in a box with a heating pad that was cold when arrived and no food or water so I put them straight in the brooder and they ate and drank right away. They get along great with my Muscovy duckling which they picked on at first but warmed up to in an hour or so. They are so FUN AND MESSY! Will look into cackle hatchery again in the future

I ordered my ducks from here for the first time and I will not be ordering again. I ordered 3 pekin ducklings and was sent 4 in total. shipping took 3 days and when i opened the box one duckling did not make it but the other 3 seemed okay. i got home and put them straight into the brooder and noticed something was not right with one of the ducklings. she couldnt walk or balance and just kept falling over and sliding on the ground instead of walking. i called immediately and was told that if it did not survive they would be sure to send me another duckling and that i shouldnt worry but that you just have to wait and see what happens because they either do good or die. she ended up dying in less then a half hour and nobody could tell me what was wrong with her besides google saying it seemed like a parasite. I called back and was told they would not send me another duck even if i were to pay extra. I paid $70 to get 3 ducklings i now have two and was refunded $7. not everyone has a bad experience, but this was mine and it was heart breaking. i am now running around trying to find ducklings because these girls need more friends. the two i have still are doing good and seem to be in good health

WHOA DUCKS!
Service and order were perfect! First time with ducks…a real learning experience. Yes, they are cute, and funny…and messy…REALLY MESSY. Be prepared to properly care for these buggers, translates to LOTS of room and several bedding changes daily. This is NOT your box in the living room endeavor! This is what I learned about Pekin ducks. They poop…constantly. They double in size almost weekly. They will play and splash any available water until it is gone. I would recommend getting your ducks in spring as the weather warms so you can house them outside – ish until the weather warms. They are certainly entertaining and have added a fun element to our homestead. They will require a constant water source where they can preferably swim and submerge. They will muck low wet spots in your lawn. They are easier prey for foxes than chickens. They will roost with your chickens but will make the coop 10x dirtier 10x faster! We love them for sure, but please don’t get them on a whim. Be prepared to be good duck parents for their sake.

Healthy Overall
We ordered 5 Pekins and received 5, but one was not “right.” Within the same order, we also ordered 10 other ducklings (5 Rouen, 5 Cayuga) and got an extra Cayuga. An order of 15 ducks (including the 5 Pekin) resulted in 16 ducks. That off Pekin didn’t survive, so we ended up with the original number of 15 at the end of the day. The rest were very healthy, very mild-mannered and beautiful. There were no health issues at all with any of the ducklings we received with the exception of that one duckling who didn’t make it. We will be ordering from you again!

I purchased 5 pekin ducks just to try something different. They were delivered intact and 3 of the 5 survived to adulthood. In a couple weeks they will be harvested and I look forward to see if there is a noticeable difference between them and what I buy at the store.

Great girls and lots of fun to watch. 100 % satisfaction.
Great breed. All five girls are laying eggs daily. We love watching them play in their pond. We will be enlarging their pond next Spring. We live in the mountains, so they have had different set up for their outside yard area. Wind brakes are the most important changes. We didn’t mix the hens we got. One thing we are surprised about is their size. They are double the size of most hens. Make sure you have the space to keep them happy and healthy. I would buy them again for sure.

We ordered nine of these ducks and Cackle sent us ten in our shipment of 23 birds, likely to cover just in case there was a mortality. All survived and we processed five after 2.5 months as we felt we were a little overrun. Fast growing birds, fatty and delicious. We kept four females and one male to overwinter.

The 4 female ducklings arrived safely and have grown to be beautiful, health adult ducks. However, I would not purchase females again because the are exceedingly loud. The males are much quieter.

Peking ducks
We purchased several of these ducklings this spring. I have to say they are the most heart birds we have. We have several other breeds of ducks and numerous chickens. The only mortality we have had with these was human error. They grew up very quickly and started laying eggs the same time our chickens did. My wife and kids love them. Glad we made this purchase

Love my girls! I got 6 pekins sexed last April and they’re beautiful! They produce 3-5 eggs a day and are extremely friendly. I would highly recommend them for eggs or pets. Karen, Brienne, Nancy, Susan, Paulette and CJ agree 🙂

Great ducks
First off I ordered around forty or so birds from cackle hatchery this year and all of them made it in great condition not one dead bird. The white Peking ducks are full grown and laying already. They are big and friendly, very fun to watch. Almost all my chickens and ducks are from cackle hatchery and they are healthy and flourishing.

We received 5 ducklings earlier this year; they were in great shape and so adorable! It is now November and we have been so impressed by how many eggs these girls have been laying; we have 8 Pekin ducks total and we have usually been getting around 6 eggs a day! Some days as many as 8 a day! We have them on an egg layer feed that is good for ducks (make sure whatever feed they are on has a good amount of niacin; ducks really need this but chickens don’t, so chicken feed usually doesn’t have enough unless it specifically is formulated for ducks too), and feed them canned no-salt vegetables every night, along with mealworms, and the ladies are paying us back with great eggs! Plus they have such cute personalities-highly recommend them!

We’ve had these ducks since May. They’re alive and well. Very skittish around us. Which is a surprise from what I read on the web. They are laying eggs. Have been for a few weeks now. Not an exciting pet, but my 2 1/2 year old Granddaughter loves them!

We ordered peking ducks for the 1st time this year. What a treat! They have kept us in stitches all year, really fun to watch. June to November they are now full size and ready for butchering. I expect they will dress out around 8 pounds each. We will definitely be ordering again.

So after reading great reviews on Cackle hatchery, we decided to go with Cackle. We ordered 3 Pekin Ducks and 3 Rouen Ducks on Wednesday. I am SO impressed with Cackle Hatchery! We have ordered from other hatcheries in the past and will never go back.
