Arrived August 2023. Received 6 babies, all were healthy and big. Ended up with 4 black and 2 black copper. Sadly, I recently lost a BCM to a respiratory infection, but the rest are doing great. Excited to see their eggs in the next month or two. Planning to cross with my Ameraucana rooster for OE babies.

I ordered 5 French Maran Surplus. I received 6! All 6 grew up happy and strong. I think I have 2 black, 2 wheaten, and 2 cuckoo. They’re gorgeous. Some have very feathered feet, others less so. They’re all sweet birds, not broody, and they get along reasonably well. For some reason, they like to separate by their colors even though they are all hens. These are our first chickens, so we’re not sure if that’s normal.
The two black marans vary greatly in size, but they both have a gorgeous green sheen. Pictures cannot do it justice. We started getting eggs just before 6 months had fully passed and they’re a nice dark brown with even darker speckles.

Ordered 5 French Maran female surplus along with 5 blue egger female surplus, some olive eggers and brown leghorns for a total of 30 chicks for a hatch/ship date of 2/22. Received 33 chicks, 1 extra Maran, extra blue egger and an extra leghorn. For the surplus chicks, there was a surprising variety, especially since Cackle only guarantees 2 different breeds in surplus. I received 1 wheaten, 1 black tailed red, 3 black (possibly black copper marans (I can’t tell the difference between the 2 at 5 weeks old, and 1 cuckoo maran without feathered legs. Sadly, we lost 1 cream legbar the morning after arrival, failure to thrive despite my best efforts and following the hatchery recommendations. The rest are doing great and are almost 5 weeks old and practically fully feathered already!

I received the Maran surplus order Friday June 3rd. I ordered 15 and received 16. I lost 1 in the first few hours, however I was at work and my wife is not as anal as I am. When I got home from work the remaining 15 peeps were doing amazing with all kinds of spunk and attitude. I made a few adjustments to the pen and all has been great since. Going on day 6 shortly and we couldn’t be any happier. Im sure we have at least 3 different breeds at this point which is great. Couldn’t be any happier with Cackle and will definitely be placing orders in the future. Thank you very much Cackle!

This is our second batch of Cackle surplus marans and these look like they will be as good as our first group. We ordered 5 (got 6, but did loose one the first night for an unknown reason). They arrived in good shape and followed Cackles chick guide and we only had 1 loss. If these are like our other group. the eggs will be very dark and numbers should be good as well. Agian, thanks to cackle and their staff for their outstanding customer service and overall easy process.

I ordered 5 of these and got six within 24 hours! They did come at 4 in the morning, but that’ll be a good story to tell! They all came very healthy and turned out to be 1 Cuckoo Marans, 2 Wheaten Marans, and 3 Black Copper Marans! They are still pullets and I suspect one of them is a roo, but I took that risk when I bought them. I would buy these little babies! They’re gorgeous!

i absolutely recommend these birds. I had two wheaten, a cuckoo (Millie, my favorite bird ever) and two French black in my grouping. Excellent variety, and they grew I to big healthy birds. 100% recommend!
