So happy! I ordered 15 birds early february, they shipped the 26th and got to my post office the 28th! I got a 5 of the rare and the diversity of breeds was fantastic!
I got 1 extra of the rare and they’ve been identified as 2 barred cochin, 1 white yokohama, 1 white phoenix (didn’t know they could be so small as chicks!), 1 gold duckwing phoenix and a Sicilian Buttercup. I can’t wait to see them grow and I’ll definitely get this SB again when I want more chickens!!!

Ordered 15…received 18. One was very weak & had such severely splayed legs that I euthanized. Other 17 are healthy & inquisitive. Very nice selection. The 4 Polish were easy to identify. I will have to wait to see what everyone else is.

2nd rare breed box I got so far
Not a whole lot of “rare breeds” in my opinion
First box out of 15 chicks 10 were Cochins
2nd box out of 25… 12 are Cochins
Lots of buttercups so if you like buttercups and Cochins this is the box for you 🙂
Little disappointed in the variety but it is a gamble on these surprise boxes.😁
Chicks all alive and healthy and they always include 2 more in each order
Cackle customer service is great and they always are quick to answer
Stay away from the Facebook group “cackle identification surprise box” group
The admin Dawn and her crew are extremely rude and belittle anyone who is new or doesn’t know breeds or how they run things on the group.. they make remarks to new members and treat them like they are stupid for not knowing certain things.. stay away from there for sure… they say they have no affiliation with cackle yet Dawn claims she’s best friends with the owner… that group makes cackle look bad but cackle isn’t… just that’s group 🙂

So pleased with the selection I ended up with. Ordered 15 and received 17. There were 2 golden laced cochin-2 silver laced cochin-1 partridge cochin-3 white polish-1 mottled Houdini-5 silver duckwing phoenix-2 silver spangled appenzellar Spitzhauben-1 chamois spangled appenzellar spitzhauben. All are healthy and active except the mottled houdan who is weak so I am giving him extra care, hopefully he makes it. Definitely want to order this again next year.

The rare breed selection is great, ordered 10, received 12. Also, 15 guineas, received 16. 2 doa appeared to have been squashed by the heat pack. 6 others died the day I picked them up Only one baby chicken died, it was so tiny compared to the rest. Possibly if the post office had gotten ahold of me the morning they came in instead of right before they closed for the day, it and 6 or 8 of the guinea keets would have made it. The surviving chicks/keets are adorable and appear to be doing well.

My first experience of ordering chicks online was a disaster. What a difference a day makes with the post office. All but 4 of my babies where either DOA or died within a few hours. I had 2 orders pending and cancelled my other out of fear of more dead babies but Cackle replaced my babies and they came 24 hours earlier than the others and they are all doing amazing so, now I regret cancelling my other order because while I reordered some not all of the breeds where available now and that’s my fault for jumping the gun. Thank you Cackle you guys and your chicks are amazing. Can’t wait till they get their feathers so I can tell exactly what they are.

I was finally able to order from Cackle and I was so pleased with all the colors I got for my rare chick assortment. I’m not sure what they are yet but they are healthy and happy and I couldn’t ask for a greater experience!

10/10 would order again
Order 30 of the rare chicks special. Received 32. All arrived alive and doing great! We are 3 weeks in and I’ve only had 1 that passed away which is great! All the others are doing fantastic and we got such a great variety!

Box of Joy
We were overjoyed to receive a call at 7:30 this morning from our post office telling us we received our chicks! My children (8, 7, 5, & 2) and I were so thankful all 30 chicks and 3 turkeys arrived alive and seemingly in good health and the kids got to pick out which chick belonged to which child…mom got a few too! After that, we spent several fun-filled hours with a pen and paper pouring over the cackle website attempting to identify our different breeds! They came up with 17 different types, it will be fun to see in a few months how many they got right. The only one I was sure of is our one Polish chick, and the turkeys. Thank you Cackle!

What fun!
I got my assortment yesterday and am having fun trying to figure out what all the little puffies are. The only ones I can id are Polish; the rest we’ll just have to wait and see.

Just a customer message
Never knew Cackle Hatchery had over 300+ YouTube videos on products and breeder flocks. Very very interesting and a great customer tool to see different breeder flocks, different chickens, different set-ups in the way breeders keep their chickens, and even your product demos were intriguing. Keep up the good customer relations. These homegrown contests, the newsletter, and the “Born to be Wild speed freak video of hatch/shipping day are incredible hilarious and funny. Your public relation ideas are wonderful. And someone sure put in a lot video-taping all those flocks. Very very fun and enjoyable.
