Partridge Breed Information
The Chukar Partridge is a native of Europe and Asia and is now well established here
in the United States. They spend most of their time scratching for
food, are smaller than the Pheasant and are very popular for hunting. Chukars
do not sit on their own eggs in captivity so you must gather and place them
under a broody bantam hen or in an incubator. The sexes are similar with
the female having a small knob over her bill and the male being slightly larger.
They are very easy to keep and breed in captivity and make a good beginner bird.
The Chukar Partridge has a black band across its eyes and under it's throat both
sexes have a red bill and legs. The taste of the meat is similar to Quail.
